The National GCT Strategy was developed in collaboration with multiple stakeholders. It comprises the following eight topics:
In Topic I "Stakeholder networking and support', the national networking structures of the GCT research and development landscape and all relevant partners are to be expanded and improved, and defragmentation achieved. This also includes promoting efficient interaction with politics and strengthening international networking in the area of GCT.
Topic II “Training and development of skills” focuses on the establishment of training and development programs for early career professionals and specialists, as well as the development of career and interaction concepts in the area of GCT.
Optimizing the requirements and processes for high-performance technology transfer, as well as the conditions for spin-offs and start-ups, is the central point of Topic III “Technology transfer”
Topic IV „Standards, norms and regulatory framework" focuses on optimizing standards for responsible pre-clinical and clinical research and development, as well as improving the regulatory framework and guaranteeing quality assurance for product manufacturing and development in the area of GCT. Improving coordination between and with regulatory authorities and optimizing resources within the authorities is also highly relevant here.
Promoting the establishment and networking of academic GMP capacities, as well as strengthening interaction with private sector production facilities, attracting and training specialist staff and securing supply chains, is dedicated to Topic V: „Quality and capacity of GMP production“.
Key aspects of Topic VI 'Research and development' are the optimization of the framework conditions for pre-clinical and clinical studies, the establishment of the involvement of patients, patient advocates and patients’ organizations, as well as establishing novel funding formats, and identifying and providing targeted support for fields relevant for the future.
Topic VII “Marketing authorization and transition to patient care” is dedicated to the structures for therapy-related diagnostics, monitoring, and follow-up of patients care, the improvement of the clinical application of GCT, and the transition of GCT into standard healthcare, thereby increasing healthcare equity.
The generation of interest and acceptance for GCT in society, as well as the potential of donations from the population and foundations as an instrument for financing research and innovation, are key points of Topic VIII 'Interaction with society'.
