In addition to protected research time and financial support for project-related travel and consumables, specific training and education opportunities for program participants are an important component of the funding line.

In order to tailor this program element to the specific needs of the fellows, the first cohort was surveyed and a customized course offering was put together on this basis. It is free of charge for program participants, can predominantly be used flexibly, and includes, among other things:

  • Individual training in statistical data analysis and visualization (using R, Python, or other programming languages)
  • Confidential consultation with statisticians for the targeted planning of research projects
  • Participation in the SPARK-BIH National Gene and Cell Therapies Lecture Series
  • An innovation workshop on inventions, patents, and technology transfer
  • A workshop on the importance and implementation of Patient & Stakeholder Engagement

In addition, the fellows use monthly meetings to inform each other about new findings in the field of GCT, relevant methods, or regulatory specifics, thereby benefiting from the knowledge and experience of the other program participants.
